FAQ
What/who is Central Springs AgEd Boosters?
Central Springs AgEd Boosters is a local 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enriching the local communities of Manly, Nora Springs, Plymouth and Rock Falls plus surrounding areas by cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders and innovators.
What is AgEd and FFA?
Agricultural education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources industry. It’s delivered through three major components: 1. Classroom and Laboratory instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experience (work-based learning) and the National FFA student organization.
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agricultural career pathways and leadership development. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America and are part of the organization’s heritage. However today’s FFA is not just for students who want to go into production agriculture. It welcomes all who aspire to be teachers, mechanics, chemists, biologists, engineers, naturalists, entrepreneurs, doctors and more. It provides a path to achievement in the areas of premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
What is the funding going to be used for?
Funds raised by our capital campaign will be used to cover the first five years of startup expenses for the AgEd and FFA program including: summer semester salary for the AgEd instructor, CASE curriculum training and materials for the classroom, start up FFA chapter materials such as meeting paraphernalia and student jackets, plus funding for chapter activities including travel to National FFA Convention, State FFA Convention, contests and fairs. A second capital campaign is getting underway in 2025 to add a Greenhouse structure to our campus and expand coursework in Plant Science and Horticulture. General funds raised moving forward will continue to cover Agricultural Education learning opportunities for PreK-12th grades in the Central Springs District, plus professional development opportunities in agriculture for our district staff.
Can I contribute over several years instead of all up front?
Yes! Many of our early donors have set up five year giving plans in order to commit at a higher-level and help the program and chapter sustain itself during the first five years of establishment.
